Description

1. Prepare Your Container
Select Your Container: Use the 6×6 inch Spanish cup for each type of microgreen.
Prepare the Box: This will act as a tray to catch excess water. Place it on a flat surface.
2. Prepare the Potting Mix
Mix: Use the 150g potting mix to fill the Spanish cups. The mix should be moist but not soggy.
3. Sowing Seeds
Rocket Seeds: Scatter rocket seeds evenly over the surface of the potting mix in one of the Spanish cups.
Methi Seeds: Scatter methi seeds evenly over the surface of the potting mix in the other Spanish cup.
Press Seeds: Lightly press the seeds into the potting mix to ensure good contact. Do not cover the seeds with additional mix.
4. Create a Greenhouse Effect
Cover: Place the Spanish cups inside the box.
Seal: Use packing tape to secure any gaps in the box, creating a mini greenhouse effect. This helps maintain humidity and temperature.
5. Watering
Initial Watering: Lightly water the seeds using a spray bottle or gentle watering can. Ensure the potting mix stays consistently moist but not waterlogged.
6. Light and Temperature
Light: Place the box in a spot with indirect sunlight or under grow lights. Microgreens need 12-16 hours of light daily.
Temperature: Maintain a temperature between 60-75°F (15-24°C) for optimal growth.
7. Growth and Care
Ventilation: Open the box occasionally to provide fresh air and prevent mold growth.
Moisture: Check daily and water as needed to keep the potting mix moist.
8. Harvesting
Timing: Microgreens are ready to harvest in 7-21 days, depending on the variety. Look for when they have developed their first true leaves.
Technique: Use clean scissors to cut the microgreens just above the soil line.
9. Post-Harvest
Rinse: Rinse harvested microgreens under cool water.
Dry: Pat dry with a paper towel or use a salad spinner.
Troubleshooting
Poor Germination: Ensure seeds are fresh and potting mix is not too dry.
Leggy Seedlings: Increase light exposure.
Mold: Improve ventilation and avoid overwatering.
