1. Ideal Time for Sowing:
Sowing Period: The best time to sow Pyramid Himalaya White F1 Radish is during the cool season, typically from October to December or March to April depending on the local climate.
2. Land Preparation:
Soil Requirements: Radishes prefer well-drained, loose, sandy-loam to loamy soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5.
Plowing and Leveling: Prepare the soil by plowing it to a depth of 15-20 cm and leveling it to remove any clumps or weeds.
Soil Fertility: Add well-rotted compost or organic manure before sowing to improve soil fertility and structure.
3. Sowing the Seeds:
Spacing: Sow seeds with 20-30 cm spacing between rows and 2-3 cm between seeds in each row to allow proper root development.
Depth: Plant seeds at a depth of about 1-2 cm.
Sowing Method: Sow the seeds directly in the field or on raised beds for better root growth.
4. Watering and Irrigation:
Initial Watering: Water the field immediately after sowing to help the seeds germinate.
Regular Irrigation: Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging. Radishes need moderate irrigation, particularly during dry spells.
Drip Irrigation: Drip irrigation can be a good option to conserve water while ensuring the soil remains moist.
6. Crop Care:
Weed Control: Remove weeds regularly to reduce competition for nutrients and water. You can use manual weeding or herbicides.
Fertilization: Use a balanced NPK fertilizer (such as 15-15-15) for good growth, particularly during the early stages. Radishes do not require too much nitrogen but benefit from adequate phosphorus and potassium.
Pest Management: Monitor for pests like aphids and root maggots. Use organic pesticides like neem oil or insecticidal soap as needed.
7. Growth Stages:
Leaf Growth: Initially, radishes will produce green, leafy foliage. Ensure proper spacing to avoid overcrowding and allow for good air circulation.
Root Development: As the plant matures, the radish root will develop and begin to form its characteristic white, round shape. The Pyramid Himalaya White F1 radish is known for its smooth, crisp texture.
