Pyramid Tomato Solan No. 1 seeds should be sown during early spring (February to March) or late winter for the best yield.
Soil Preparation:
Tomato plants prefer well-drained, fertile loamy soil with a pH of 6.0-7.0. Prepare the soil by incorporating organic compost and ensuring good aeration.
Sowing Method:
Start seeds in a nursery and transplant seedlings when they are about 4-6 weeks old. Maintain a spacing of 50-60 cm between rows and 30-40 cm between plants.
Watering:
Tomatoes need consistent moisture, so water deeply and regularly, ensuring the soil is not waterlogged. Drip irrigation is ideal for tomato plants.
Fertilization:
Apply a balanced NPK fertilizer (e.g., 20:20:20) for healthy growth, especially during the early stages. Increase potassium during fruiting for better fruit quality.
Pest and Disease Control:
Monitor for common tomato pests like whiteflies and aphids. Use organic or chemical pest control as needed.
Harvesting:
Harvest when the tomatoes are deep red, firm, and fully matured, typically about 70-80 days after transplanting.
