A 50-cup seedling tray provides ample space for growing a variety of microgreens, ensuring each seedling has its own compartment for optimal growth. It’s essential to maintain proper watering, lighting, and temperature conditions for healthy microgreens development.
Preparation:
Ensure the tray is clean and has adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
Growing Medium:
Fill each of the 50 cups with a suitable growing medium, such as a seed-starting mix, coconut coir, or a blend of both.
Seeding:
Sow seeds evenly in each cup. Follow the seed density recommendations for each type of microgreen to ensure optimal growth.
Watering:
Water the growing medium gently to keep it moist but not waterlogged. Using a spray bottle or a gentle watering can help avoid displacing the seeds.
Lighting:
Place the tray in a location where it can receive adequate natural light, or set up grow lights to provide the necessary light for healthy growth.
Temperature:
Maintain a consistent temperature suitable for the types of microgreens you’re growing. Most microgreens thrive in temperatures between 60-75°F (15-24°C).
Air Circulation:
Ensure good air circulation around the tray to prevent mold and fungal growth. A small fan can help maintain airflow.
Monitoring:
Check the moisture level of the growing medium regularly and water as needed to keep it consistently moist.
Harvesting:
Harvest the microgreens when they reach the desired size, which can vary between 7-21 days depending on the variety.
A 50-cup seedling tray provides even more capacity for growing a variety of microgreens, allowing for greater experimentation and yield.
