AGRILABH CARROT GAVRAN SEEDS

The carrot is a root vegetable, typically orange in color, though purple, black, red, white, and yellow cultivars exist, all of which are domesticated forms of the wild carrot, sowing seeds directly in the garden (or wherever you plan to grow them) rather than transplanting. Carrots do not like to have their roots disturbed. Sow 1/4 inch deep, 2 to 3 inches apart in rows 1 foot apart.

  • Carrot seeds
  • Garden tools (shovel, trowel, rake)
  • High-quality compost or well-rotted manure
  • Fertilizer (balanced or low in nitrogen)
  • Watering can or hose

1. Prepare the Soil:

  • Loosen the soil to a depth of at least 12 inches. Remove any rocks, sticks, or debris.
  • Mix in organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, to improve soil fertility and structure.

2. Sow the Seeds:

  • Plant carrot seeds directly into the prepared soil. Carrots do not transplant well, so it’s best to sow them directly where they will grow.
  • Sow the seeds thinly in rows, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil (about 1/4 inch deep).
  • You can also use a board or a piece of burlap to help keep the soil evenly moist until the seeds germinate.

3. Watering and Care:

  • Keep the soil consistently moist during the germination period, which typically takes 1-3 weeks.
  • Once the carrot seedlings are established, water deeply but infrequently to encourage root growth. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to rotting.

4. Thinning:

  • When the carrot seedlings are about 2-3 inches tall, thin them to proper spacing, which is usually about 2-3 inches between plants. This allows enough room for the carrots to develop.

5. Fertilize:

  • Carrots do not require heavy fertilization, but a balanced or low-nitrogen fertilizer can be applied when thinning the seedlings.

6. Pest and Disease Control:

  • Keep an eye out for carrot fly and aphids, which can be common pests. Use appropriate organic pest control measures if necessary.
  • Practice crop rotation to minimize disease problems.

7. Harvesting:

  • Carrots are typically ready to harvest 60-80 days after sowing, depending on the variety.
  • Gently pull the carrots from the soil by grasping the greens at the base and wiggling them out. Be careful not to damage the roots.

8. Storage: – Freshly harvested carrots can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks. – For long-term storage, consider storing them in a cool, dark, and humid place, such as a root cellar or a refrigerator with high humidity settings.
