📅 Sowing Season:
Kharif Season (Monsoon): June to July
📍 Climate & Soil:
Requires warm climate with moderate rainfall.
Grows well in well-drained black or loamy soils.
pH Range: 6.0 to 7.5
🚜 Land Preparation:
1-2 deep ploughings followed by harrowing.
Make beds and channels for proper drainage.
🌾 Seed Rate:
8 to 10 kg per acre
📏 Spacing:
Row to Row: 90 cm
Plant to Plant: 20-25 cm
💧 Water Requirement:
Tur is a drought-tolerant crop.
Only 1-2 irrigations may be needed (during flowering and pod development if no rainfall).
🐛 Pest & Disease Management:
Common Pests: Pod borer, Leaf hopper
Use Neem oil spray or recommended pesticides.
Diseases: Wilt, Sterility mosaic
Use resistant variety (BDN 711 is moderately resistant)
Seed treatment with Trichoderma or Carbendazim before sowing.
