Sow Pyramid Sophia-9 Okra seeds from March to June or September to November, depending on local weather conditions.
Soil Preparation:
Okra grows best in well-drained, fertile loamy soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5. Prepare the soil by tilling to a depth of 15-20 cm and incorporating organic compost.
Seed Rate:
Use 8-10 kg of seeds per acre for optimal plant density.
Sowing Method:
Sow the seeds at a depth of 2-3 cm and maintain 30-40 cm row spacing and 10-15 cm plant spacing.
Watering:
Keep the soil moist, but avoid over-watering. Drip irrigation works well for consistent watering.
Fertilization:
Apply a balanced NPK fertilizer for better growth, with more focus on phosphorus and potassium during flowering and fruiting.
Pest and Disease Control:
Monitor for pests like aphids and caterpillars, and apply organic pesticides if necessary.
Harvesting:
Harvest the okra pods when they are 3-4 inches long and tender, usually about 50-60 days after sowing.
