Soil Type: Loamy or sandy loam, well-drained
pH Range: 6.0 – 7.5
2–3 deep ploughings to achieve fine tilth

Spacing:
Row to Row: 30 cm
Plant to Plant: 10 cm
Depth: Sow at 3–4 cm
Seed Treatment:
Rhizobium + PSB culture to enhance nitrogen fixation
Fungicide for fungal protection
💧 Irrigation
Rainfed crop during monsoon
Irrigated crop requires:
1st irrigation after sowing
Then every 10–15 days
Avoid waterlogging
🌿 Fertilizer Application (per hectare)
Basal Dose:
Nitrogen: 15–20 kg
Phosphorus (P₂O₅): 40–50 kg
No top dressing needed if Rhizobium is used

Common Pests:
Aphids / Jassids: Use Neem oil or Imidacloprid
Pod Borer: Spinosad or Neem-based biopesticides
Diseases:
Leaf Spot / Powdery Mildew: Mancozeb or Sulfur spray
Yellow Mosaic Virus (YMV): Use disease-free certified seed; control whitefly
